CROYDON WAKEFIELD DAY
The sleet held off and there were only a few spots of rain, but the wind stayed around 12-15kts for most of the day and those not moving around soon got pretty chilled. However, this year’s Croydon Wakefield Day at least had better weather than the previous two days of the Easter weekend at Middle Wallop.
Entries were brave but not numerous; eventually 24 hardy souls took model from box and the 8 oz. Vintage class attracted 14 of them, resulting in a tie for first place, as both flyers had to leave early. In the 4 oz. class Coplands predominated, with Chris Strachan emerging the winner with a nominal flight after the other fly-off contender, John Minshull, also beat an early retreat.

CROOKHAM COMBINED POWER
The Max was set at 2:15.
In the fly-off each model was timed to the ground, both going about 1 mile which equates to a wind speed of some 40mph. Before the launch I measured a wind speed of 23 mph so heaven only knows what it was up there!!
Well done lads.
