YMM PRECISION EVENT
This
competition is a low key event to encourage the fun flyers to enter. The rules
are minimal and as a precision event long walks to retrieve are cut out. It is
also intended to encourage the flying of petrol (spark ignition) powered vintage
models.
This
competition is open to all i.c. powered cabin models of any era or of own
design.
Competition
will be held over the August Middle Wallop Euro SAM Champs. Flights may be made
on any day but last times must be registered no later than 1pm. on the Monday.
Fly Off, if required, will be between
2pm and 3pm and target time will be decided by the CD on the day.
General
Rules.
1. All models must have a glazed cabin (not painted on). Open cockpit models must have a clear windscreen fitted.
2. Builder of the Model rule will not apply.
3. Timing to be undertaken by an independent time keeper, recorded and signed by the timer.
4. More than one model may be entered but spares are not allowed to replace lost or damaged models.
5. D/Ts are not allowed to ensure a recordable time but are encouraged to prevent a fly away. Setting is suggested for just over the maximum time limit.
6. Engine timers will be allowed.
7. Competition will consist of three flights with target times of :- 1st. flight 30 seconds. 2nd. Flight 60 seconds. 3rd. Flight 90 seconds.
8. Recordable flights will be up to 14 seconds either side of the target times.
9.
Both R.O.G. and Hand Launch will be accepted.
Scoring.
1. At the start of each flight the competitor will be credited with 14 points. One point will be deducted for each second either below or above the target time.
2. 5 Bonus points will be added to the flight time score for a ROG
3. Another 5 points will be added for an ignition powered model.
4. Timing is to start at the time of release whether it be ROG or H/L The timekeepers are asked to cross out the YES or NO on the score cards under the ROG and Ignition columns.
5. Each flight intended for competition must be nominated as a competition flight to the timekeeper before launch.
6. Flights of less than 10secs. may be discounted and flown again .
Prizes.
Prizes will be awarded to the first three places regardless of engine type.
There will be three extra prizes for the top three ignition powered models.
These will be spark ignition engines donated by Charlie Yost from San Diego, California, who, unfortunately due to ill health, will now not be attending the SAM Champs.
Note .
ROG can be from any flat surface. ie. Grass, tarmac,table top, model box top etc. etc. A special take off area will not be provided.
